2019 Virgin Money London Marathon

KRDF Volunteer Mr Arif Ali will be taking part in 2019 Virgin Money London Marathon  in order to raise funds and awareness about our charity projects. Below is his story.

My story

On 8th October 2005, while we were comfortably sitting in our offices, homes, or even sleeping, an earthquake occurred with a magnitude of 7.6 in the North of Pakistan. The earthquake was felt as far as Afghanistan, Tajikstan and China.

According to the Pakistani Government’s statistics, more than 85000 people were killed in the disaster, Kashmir was the most affected by this natural calamity where almost all the educational infrastructure was destroyed.

Many people have suffered since, and people till today are still rebuilding their lives. KRDF was formed out of this disaster, and is now empowering people who are in dire need. So far, KRDF has successfully built schools for children, helped thousands of women by providing them free vocational training and have helped many remote areas by providing fresh water supply.

Help me to support this great cause, and hopefully we can bring people out of poverty, provide education, and medical facilities. Below are some of the basic things that KRDF is doing in some of these remote villages.

* A child’s education from as little as £20 per month

* A teachers salary from as little as £50 per month

* To build a classroom, office, or a wash room from £2000-00 each

Personally, my origin is from Kashmir, this is my way of giving back to the community from where I have come from. It would be a great sense of achievement for me to help those people in need, from something I enjoy doing, i.e. running. So please reach into your pockets, and donate generously.
